Personal Disclosure: I own a very small amount of VRT Class A in personal portfolios. This is article is not investment advice, nor an endorsement or recommendation to buy VRT, both for the sake of the reader and the integrity of the article.

The point of this article is to review a major datacenter infrastructure company’s performance and what that might mean for AI/SI and the datacenter buildout. It is not an endorsement, nor is this writing sponsored by said company.

Vertiv Holdings Co. ( NYSE: VRT ) reported its third-quarter 2026 earnings results before the market opened on October 28, 2026. The company delivered strong results that exceeded analyst expectations across key metrics, including revenue and earnings per share. This positive report is really good news for the technology sector. It indicates a continuing strong earnings season and supports the ongoing midterm rally in related stocks, and may indicate continued health and growth in the AI/SI datacenter industrial cycle.

Who is Vertiv?

Vertiv designs, manufactures, and services critical infrastructure for data centers, communications networks, and industrial environments. The company provides a wide range of products and solutions that support these facilities.

Here are some examples of the kinds of products and systems that Vertiv designs, makes, and services:

  • Alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC) power management products
  • Low- and medium-voltage switchgear
  • Busbar systems
  • Thermal management products, including both air-cooled and liquid-cooled solutions
  • Integrated modular solutions
  • Racks and enclosures
  • Single-phase uninterruptible power supplies (UPS)
  • Rack power distribution units
  • Rack thermal systems

Vertiv holds significant market share in several segments of data center infrastructure work. For instance, analysis by KoalaGains as of September 17 indicates a global uninterruptible power supply ( UPS ) market share of 25%-30%. They also hold significant share in liquid and other cooling systems, which are integral for datacenter server racks. This is especially true, because the density of power in a given rack is increasing. More power in a tighter space increases heating trouble non-linearly, increasing demand for integrated cooling solutions, like those Vertiv sells and services.

3rd Quarter Results

Vertiv’s third quarter numbers are exceptional, showing continuing demand for their services. In a statement from their results: “‘We are in the middle of the largest infrastructure buildout and it’s accelerating,’ said Giordano Albertazzi, Vertiv’s Chief Executive Officer. ‘The demands on data center infrastructure are evolving faster than ever, and Vertiv’s role in that buildout keeps expanding.’”

Positive Outlook for AI/SI and Datacenters

Overall, Vertiv performing well, raising its guidance for growth, and projecting continued strong returns and demand for its products should serve as a positive indicator for the broader data center buildout. This is especially true for related stocks in the power, cooling, and infrastructure sectors that support artificial intelligence and cloud computing expansion.

Naturally, every industrial cycle and investment has risks, especially at the revolutionary scale the current datacenter buildout has. Every industrial cycle slows, and, eventually, shifts and ends. At present, if Vertiv’s business performance is any indicator, the current cycle isn’t ending any time soon. The key question to be answered is whether the money to finance products and services from companies like Vertiv can continue to flow, and at increasing rates. Watching the performance of companies like Vertiv and its major competitors, Eaton ( NYSE: ETN )and Schneider Electric ( OTCMKTS: SBGSY ), might help us see.
